Ruth Bass - Violin

Ruth Bass
started learning the violin, aged three, from her father David,
himself a violinist and teacher, in her home town of Cambridge.
These lessons with her father continued until she was fourteen
when she began studying with Howard Davies, first violin of the
Alberni String Quartet. Ruth won one of the few Associated Board
of the Royal Schools of Music scholarships to the Royal Academy
of Music, London, just before her seventeenth birthday, taking
it up a year later, and continuing her studies with Howard
Davies.
On leaving the RAM, Ruth joined the Orchestra of the Welsh
National Opera was there for fifteen years, before leaving in
2002. Ruth is currently the strings co-ordinator at
Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls
